Wedding Invitations

via HelloLucky.com

Getting started on your wedding stationery suite (i.e. save the date, invitation, escort cards, etc.) can be somewhat overwhelming. There are so many ideas, styles, price points, rules and traditions.

That being said, before you start on your save the date or invitation make sure you have already finalized your wedding style, formality and guest count.

Also, have a realistic budget in mind. According to the Bridal Association of America the average couple spends $659 on invitations and reply cards. This total does not include the cost for postage, calligraphy or other additions to your wedding stationery suite.

Here are a few factors that will attribute to the cost of your wedding invitations:
- Quantity (don't forget to order extra invites and envelopes)
- Custom Design
- Type of printing (digital, thermography, letterpress, engraving)
- Size and weight of invitation (a square design will require more postage)
- Pocket or boxed invitations (they are very pretty, but you will definitely spend more than the average couple)
- Number of enclosures (reply card, information card, reception card)
- Embellishments (ribbon, brooches, etc.)
- Inner and Outer envelopes
- Number of ink colors (this comes into play when you are not printing your invites digitally)
