Two years ago today my husband and I were married in North Miami. I remember waking up to an overcast sky thinking, well I guess it's going to rain on our plans for an outdoor wedding and it did, but we had a plan B and the day was just as beautiful! We were surrounded by family, friends, music and great food. The ceremony started with sweet sounds of a solo guitar player, followed by a steel drum band for cocktails, Haitian music for dinner and an awesome DJ for the reception. We definitely danced the entire night!

Our first dance was to Bob Marley, "Is this Love"!

In the photograph is one of Style Perfect Events' June brides, Julie. Julie and Ron were married at St. Albans Church in Davidson and the reception took place at the Point Lake House in Mooresville. It was such a pleasure to work with them as their month-of-coordinator!

Beaver Dam Historical Home and Grounds

Last week I toured the Beaver Dam Historical Home and Grounds in Davidson. What a magical place! It features a "federal style" home that was built in 1829, which has since then been refurbished, with minimal changes, as the integrity of the house has been kept and you can fill the richness of the history when you walk through. The venue also features expansive grounds for outdoor events and a rustic barn that is the perfect backdrop to a southern wedding.

The venue was recently featured on Weddings Unveiled.

Fabulous Local Store Find: Homegoods

If you've been reading my blog you should know that I'm a huge fan of Homegoods. They always have fun and unexpected items that can be incorporated into your decor for a birthday party, wedding, baby shower, dinner party, etc. Yesterday I found this awesome birdcage wall piece. It's so fun, different and affordable. It's only $19.99! What a steal!

Be Inspired - "Love is You"

I put my Chrisette Michele, I Am CD in the stereo for old times and stopped on "Love is You". I don't know if you remember this song, but it is truly beautiful and has struck a strong chord as I reflect on being a wife and wedding planner. I always say this, but inspiration for your wedding or event can come from anywhere and today I am truly inspired by Christette Michele's song "Love is You". I would love to plan a wedding around this song! So stay tuned. You may see a style board or concept shoot inspired by this song on the blog.

Giving Back in Charlotte

This week my husband and I had dinner at The King's Kitchen in uptown. This restaurant is very unique and special! They not only have great food, but they are also a non-profit whose mission is to "Feed the hungry and heal the brokenhearted".

The restaurant employs a segment of the Charlotte community "that is considered unemployable, from people who have come out of prison and rehab, to youths that are at high risk from dropping out of school". They then donate profits and/or food to centers that provide meals to individuals in need.

If you have not been to The King's Kitchen in Charlotte it's a must!
